MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) - The number of refugees on the Belarusian-Polish border is incomparable with what is happening in the English Channel, political analyst Vladimir Kornilov said on the air of the Rossiya 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
"Look at the truly large-scale migrant crisis in the English Channel between France and the UK. Forgive me, but 2,000-3,000, even 4,000 as some say, refugees on the Belarusian–Polish is nothing compared with what is happening in the English Channel today. Tens of thousands have made their way there this year officially. Last Thursday saw an absolute record - more than 1,200 refugees for a day. For a day! Are they welcomed with tanks, fire? Are they thrown back into the water? No, they are accepted, registered. Some are sent back. But everything is done with the blessing of the French authorities. Macron has turned a blind eye to this," Vladimir Kornilov said.
The political analyst recalled that the UK pays the French coast guard 54 million pounds a year. "Meanwhile, the French just turn a blind eye. Why can't they reach an agreement with Belarus?" he said.
