MINSK, 13 May (BelTA) - The sanctions are not a political action, but an attempt to drive a competitor out of the market, Deputy Chairperson of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) Elena Mankevich said in an interview to ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
Elena Mankevich is convinced that the economy and the fight for markets are behind any policy. “Let us have a look at the sanctions, which are now applied to our businesses. After all, what are sanctions? They are not a political action, they are an attempt to drive a competitor out of the market. Today the market is developing so rapidly that no one will remember you if you are absent from it for a month or two,” she said.
The FTUB deputy chairperson also drew attention to the situation with the sanatorium Belarus in Druskininkai. According to her, the imposition of sanctions on this facility is an attempt of raider seizure, a way of expropriating or buying out the sanatorium for a low price.
Elena Mankevich suggested looking at the history of Western countries, which are now trying to “impose their stereotypes” on Belarus: each of them has centuries-old history. “We are a young state, which develops as it sees fit. We ourselves can clearly understand what is really going on in our country, what the majority supports and what the minority follows,” she said.
