Opinion: Objective information is of crucial importance amid information wars, news fakes

MINSK, 26 April (BelTA) – Objective information is of crucial importance amid information wars and news fakes, First Deputy Director General of Industrial Park Development Company Kirill Koroteyev said at the seminar for journalists and experts of Belarus and China “Expanding the horizons of cooperation: through journalism to the community of one fate” held in Minsk on 26 April, BelTA has learned.

In his words, the event is held in the year marking the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and China, which, apart from being symbolic, shows the qualitative and multilateral nature of the relations between the two countries.

“The industrial park has been closely cooperating with the key Chinese and Belarusian media since its establishment. Among our regular partners are Xinhua News Agency, People's Daily, China Central Television (CCTV) and others. We also work closely with a wide range of Belarusian media: news agencies, TV and radio companies, news websites and printed sources,” said Kirill Koroteyev.

According to him, in 2021 in Minsk the Industrial Park Development Company signed a cooperation agreement with the Belarusian Union of Journalists. The document provided an opportunity to implement information, educational, creative and cultural projects to promote Chinese-Belarusian relations. Since last year the company has been a member of the Board of Trustees at the Belarusian Union of Journalists and supported the organization in implementing a number of initiatives.

“Cooperation between the media of China and Belarus is more than relevant today. Amid information wars and news fakes, it is extremely important to develop a new direction of integration within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative. Together we will be able to counteract external influence, work on objective coverage of current events, and refute news fakes,” Kirill Koroteyev said.
