MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – The rise of the multipolar world is attributed in many ways to Western sanctions, national security expert Aleksandr Tishchenko said in a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel as he commented on Belarus' relations with Myanmar and other distant countries.
The expert remarked that right now Belarusian rescuers are helping Myanmar deal with the aftermath of the devastating earthquake. “Belarus never looked away when others were having a tough time. We sent rescuers and humanitarian aid to where tragedies and disasters occurred, including in Europe. When wildfires were raging across Türkiye and Greece, we also extended a helping hand,” said Aleksandr Tishchenko.
Myanmar is among the countries that Belarus rushed to help when it was ravaged by the deadly earthquake. According to the expert, Myanmar is one of the countries Belarus is forging relations with. “We need to keep in mind that Myanmar is also under certain sanctions and is experiencing certain problems with resources. Belarus is doing the right thing by paying more attention to countries under sanctions. No matter how you look at it, the West's policy has given momentum to the multipolar world,” he emphasized.
According to the expert, countries that are tired of living under Western restrictions have banded together and started looking for ways to jointly solve their problems. “Such associations and engagements are supported by peoples and governments. Entire coalitions and blocs are being created - I can cite the SCO and BRICS as examples. Multipolarity is the result of Western sanctions,” Aleksandr Tishchenko added.
