MINSK, 17 August (BelTA) – The phone conversation between U.S President Donald Trump and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has demonstrated a strategic success of the Belarusian diplomacy and the country’s strengthening positions in the international arena, military expert and political analyst Yakov Kedmi said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel.
According to the expert, Trump has correctly assessed the situation and seeks constructive relations with Belarus. “When considering Belarus and Russia, Trump has reasonably understood that good and constructive relations must also be established with Belarus. This is a tremendous success for Belarus, for Aleksandr Lukashenko. This proves that his political strategy was correct all along. This will have further developments. I don’t know how Trump’s visit to Minsk will look. I think it will look wonderful. And it will also be interesting to see how Aleksandr Lukashenko’s visit to the United States unfolds.”
Commenting on European countries’ reaction, especially Lithuania’s, the expert noted that they were powerless against the course of American politics. “He [Trump] even called Lukashenko the president of Belarus. Now let’s see how Europe wipes off this slap in the face – all of them. This single conversation threw this whole disgraceful, dirty, petty policy toward Belarus into the garbage dump where it belonged. And all their so-called heroes – the ones they bankrolled, the ones they inflated – they’re in that same dump now.”
