Opinion: Great environment for young scientists, innovative ventures in Belarus

MINSK, 12 March (BelTA) – Everything is in place in Belarus for young scientists' research and innovative ventures, Chairman of the Belarusian State Committee on Science and Technology Aleksandr Shumilin said as he met with students and teachers of Shamyakin Mozyr State Pedagogical University and Gymnasium No.51 of Gomel, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian State Committee on Science and Technology.

The participants of the meeting discussed the latest scientific achievements of Belarus and other countries, promising areas of science education, ways to promote research and innovative activities among school and university students, and support for the talented youth.

“The Belarusian government will always support resourceful and talented young people who want to create something new and unique for the benefit of Belarus. You are our main priority. Everything in in place for the development of young scientists' research and innovative ventures in Belarus: there are research laboratories at universities and a dynamically developing network of innovative infrastructure which includes technoparks where everyone can implement their projects from scratch and commercialize them,” Aleksandr Shumilin said.

In line with the president's executive order, up to 100 talented young scientists who are working on solutions in natural sciences, technology, social sciences, and humanities receive scholarships every year. The State Committee on Science and Technology annually holds a nationwide competition of innovative projects, which acts as a springboard for talented young specialists. “The competition is meant to find promising projects and commercialize solutions and scientific research. In recent years, we gave an impetus to the innovative activities of young scientists. We have collected the best projects and solutions that can benefit our country,” Aleksandr Shumilin noted.
