Opinion: Children's charity campaign is not only about holiday greetings

MINSK, 23 December (BelTA) – The Our Children charity campaign is not only about holiday greetings, Belarusian Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich told journalists as he visited the national research center “Mother and Child”, BelTA has learned.

“We are here to wish mothers happy holidays and share their joy,” Dmitry Pinevich said.

According to him, the Our Children charity campaign is more than just holiday greetings. The healthcare system also uses the campaign to take stock of its performance and outline activities to improve the system of protection of childhood and motherhood.

Representatives of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry visit various facilities of the childhood and motherhood protection system. The national research center “Mother and Child” holds a special place in the system as a fourth-level perinatal center. More than 3,100 women gave birth here in 2020.

The research center also uses assisted reproductive technology and offers in vitro fertilization. These technologies help families become happy,”, Dmitry Pinevich. “Children are given by God, we only facilitate the process,” he noted.

Director of the center Sergei Vasilyev added that the Our Children campaign demonstrates that children and demographics are in focus of the country's social policy.

This year's edition of the nationwide charity campaign Our Children is running from 10 December to 10 January 2021. The program of the campaign includes New Year events across the country. Representatives of government authorities visit orphanages, family-type children's homes, hospitals, foster and adoptive families to wish children a Happy New Year and a Merry Christmas, give them presents, and help solve their problems. The charity campaign also brings together public associations and other organizations.
