Opinion: Belarus' Western neighbors fund destructive activities reversing all cooperation gains

MINSK, 18 June (BelTA) – Western neighbors of Belarus finance obviously destructive activities aimed at disuniting us, reversing all the gains achieved over many years of hard work and cooperation, member of the Council of the Republic, Chief Physician of Brest Regional Hospital Aleksandr Karpitsky told BelTA.

He noted that Belarusian healthcare workers had established close ties with their counterparts from Poland and Lithuania.

“Medical workers from these countries and us have built not only professional contacts within the framework of international cross-border cooperation projects (by the way, successful ones), but also strong friendship over the years. To be honest, I can't imagine what needs to happen for these ties and this friendship to sink into oblivion. We both spent a lot of money and achieved impressive results while implementing common ideas and plans to improve the healthcare systems in our countries, we are constantly in touch at conferences, symposia, and in personal communication. New projects are in the works today. And suddenly you realize that these countries decided to finance clearly destructive activities aimed at separating us, eroding everything that has been achieved over many years of hard work and cooperation,” the senator said.

According to Aleksandr Karpitsky, he discussed this topic with his colleagues. “We have come to a shared conclusion: it is necessary to draw the attention of politicians and legislators to where the funds of the neighboring states go. Maybe the time has come to ask our peoples how to use this money: to finance the Belarusian opposition or to keep running socially important cross-border cooperation projects?” the senator said.
