MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to address the refugee problem together with Poland through a dialogue, Vadim Gigin, chairman of the board of the Belarusian Znanie society, told Alfa Radio, BelTA informs citing sb.by.
Speaking about the migrant crisis, he noted that Paris, Rome, Madrid and other European centers of power are reluctant to help Warsaw. One of the reasons for that is to take revenge on Poland for its long-standing policy on refugees.
“They could show solidarity and place refugees across various EU countries. Why are they not doing this? This is such a sweet revenge on Poland and the Baltic countries that brazenly and arrogantly refused to accept refugees during the migrant crisis of 2015-2016. Back then they would say that they did not join the EU to host refugees. And they did not host them in the end. Therefore, I believe that now Madrid, Rome, Athens, Paris are watching with great interest how Kaczyński, Nausėda, Landsbergis and others are going to cope with this challenge on their own. By the way, we should mention why the migrant flow through Lithuania has waned. In fact, you need to go through Poland if you want to get to Germany from Lithuania. So why would these unfortunate refugees face the same trial two times - first to be met with batons, dogs and machine guns of semi-savage Lithuanian security officials, and then to experience the same thing on the territory of Poland?” Vadim Gigin noted.
In addition, the analyst drew attention to another important point that the West prefers to hush up. “It is necessary to say directly where these refugees are going and why and what are the reasons for it. A solid mafia structure has been built, which is based primarily on the territory of Poland. The Polish authorities are well aware of it. This structure has branches in Iraq and Germany. As we know, the Belarusian authorities have recently detained about 15 people who facilitate these illegal flows. There are Ukrainians, Poles, one Lebanese, someone else among them, but no Belarusians. That's the thing. Belarus is ready to address the refugee problem together with the Poles provided there is a normal attitude, a dialogue. I am not talking about negotiations on our relationship. There is a specific problem to address,” Vadim Gigin said.
