MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – The cooperation between Belarus and China is known for a number of large-scale joint projects, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus, Candidate of Sciences [History], Assistant Professor Vyacheslav Danilovich said at the presentation of the monograph by Valery Matsel “Belarus - China: 30 years of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation” on 20 January, BelTA informs.
The rector drew attention to the fact that on this day 30 years ago, that is on 20 January 1992, an agreement on the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the People's Republic of China was signed during the visit of the Belarusian government delegation to Beijing.
In the build-up to this important anniversary, the Academy of Public Administration has prepared the monograph “Belarus - China: 30 years of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation”. It was authored by Valery Matsel, the head of the International Relations Department of the Academy of Public Administration, Doctor of Sciences [History], a professional diplomat who worked in China for a long time.
“Three decades is a short period of time by historical standards, but Belarus and China have managed to go all the way up from ‘friendship and cooperation' set out in the agreement on establishing diplomatic relations to ‘trust-based comprehensive strategic partnership and mutually beneficial cooperation' enshrined in the joint declaration passed on 29 September 2016. At the same time, the 30th anniversary is a great occasion to recall the history of Belarus-China relations and to take stock of cooperation outcomes and outline plans for the future,” the rector of the academy said.
He emphasized that the bilateral cooperation is growing bigger. Interregional contacts are gaining momentum, cooperation in science and technology, defense and humanitarian field is expanding. The export of Belarus' educational and tourism services to China is on the rise.
“The vibrant cooperation allowed the leaders of Belarus and China to upgrade the status of bilateral relations to ‘iron brotherhood, exemplary all-round strategic cooperation and all-weather partnership',” said the rector of the Academy of Public Administration.
He described the monograph by Valery Matsel as a very relevant and one-of-a kind publication.
