Opinion: Belarus can contribute to new transport framework of Eurasia

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) - Belarus can take part in the formation of a new transport framework of Eurasia, Anton Dudarenok, an expert with the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies (BISR), said during the roundtable "Uzbekistan and Belarus, a time-tested partnership", BelTA has learned.

Anton Dudarenok stressed that the relations between Belarus and Uzbekistan have reached a qualitatively new level. This is evidenced by the recent visit of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko to Tashkent, during which the parties signed a number of important agreements.

The expert noted that the countries cooperate in many areas and highlighted the prospects in the transport and logistics sector.

"Another promising area is the new transport and logistics map of Eurasia, which is now being drawn up, with routes being reformatted. This may not have been mentioned a lot, but this topic permeated all agreements, because it is now the basic one for us. In my opinion, Belarus can take part in the formation of the new transport framework of Eurasia," Anton Dudarenok said.

He noted that Belarus has a great potential in this regard as the country is a member of various integration associations. The country will soon join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a full-fledged member. "We will be the first fully European state to be part of this organization. This will open up additional opportunities for us," Anton Dudarenok added.
