"On Point"
MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Europe understands that an armed conflict with a nuclear power like Russia would be akin to a suicide for Europeans, historian Yevgeny Spitsyn said in the latest episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel.
“Of course, Europeans make pompous speeches claiming that they are about to create a pan-European army. But Europe is not ready, morally, psychologically or economically, to enter into any kind of military confrontation with Russia. Moreover, any sensible politician understands that even if they put together an army, if they produce the necessary amount of ammunition and military equipment, fighting a nuclear power is suicidal,” Yevgeny Spitsyn said.
The historian noted that France has not carried out technical upgrade of their nuclear arsenal for a long time. “They have mostly tactical charges, i.e. low-power by today's standards. These nuclear warheads can cause some damage, but they cannot solve the strategic task of destroying Russia,” he emphasized.
