Number of vehicles queuing at Belarus-Poland border grows

MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – Vehicle queues at the border to enter Poland have increased by 600 units over the day, BelTA learned from Belarus’ State Border Committee.

According to the border agency, the number of trucks waiting to enter Poland has grown by 500 units over the past 24 hours. Around 600 vehicles are queuing up near the only Polish border checkpoint for trucks Kukuryki (Kozlovichi on the Belarusian side). Personnel of the Polish border checkpoints cleared only 40% of the normal number of trucks.

The busiest route to the EU for trucks goes through the Lithuanian border checkpoint Shalchininkai (Benyakoni on the Belarusian side). In the last 24 hours, only 47% of the normal number of trucks was checked out to enter Lithuania.

Over 660 trucks are still waiting at the Latvian border checkpoint Paternieki (Grigorovshchina on the Belarusian side). Personnel of the Latvian border crossing cleared 44% of the normal number of trucks.

The queue near the busiest Polish border checkpoint for passenger cars Terespol (Brest on the Belarusian side) was up by 100 cars in the last 24 hours. The Polish border crossing accepted 35% of the normal number of passenger cars on its territory.

Queues of passenger cars appeared also in front of the Lithuanian border checkpoint Medininkai (Kamenny Log). About 40 cars are waiting to enter Lithuania.

As of 10:00, a total of 65 buses were waiting to enter Poland near the border checkpoint Terespol (Brest).
