MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – Three residents of Belarus have reached the age of 110, Deputy Head of the Main Department of Social Services and Social Assistance of the Belarusian Labor and Social Security Ministry Nikolai Orel said in a new episode of BelTA’s The Nation Speaks project.
According to him, the number of centenaries is growing in the country. The latest data suggests that currently more than 600 people in Belarus are aged 100 and older. The number of centenaries living in Belarus was about 400 in the past ten years. In 2023, there were about 500 centenaries.
Nikolai Orel added that three residents of Belarus were over 110 years old.
All these elderly people are registered with territorial centers of social services. They regularly get greetings on their birthdays and other holidays.
As for the gender composition, the deputy head of the main department added that 66% of people over 65 are women. This means there is one man per two women of the same age.
