MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – The criminal case against the Latvian minister of foreign affairs and the Riga mayor is being investigated by the Investigative Committee of Belarus, the corpus delicti is obvious, BelTA learned from Prosecutor General Andrei Shved.
The official said: “The purpose of any criminal case is to evaluate actions from the point of view of the criminal law. A criminal case has been opened regarding the Latvian minister of foreign affairs and the Riga mayor. The Investigative Committee is working on the case. In my opinion, legal components of the crime are obvious. The same kind of crime is specified by the Criminal Code of Latvia.”
Speaking about the criminal case regarding the removal of a Belarusian state flag in Riga, the prosecutor general noted that it is a natural response of the Belarusian state towards an unprecedented sacrilegious action involving a state symbol. “Respectively in the course of investigating the criminal case the investigators will take measures to give an appropriate evaluation from the point of view of the criminal law,” Andrei Shved said.
