No coronavirus cases among Belarus' customs service personnel

MINSK, 2 April (BelTA) – No cases of the coronavirus have been registered among Belarusian customs service personnel, Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yuri Senko told journalists on 2 April, BelTA has learned.

“We understand the current situation, we have the necessary protective gear. Thankfully, none of our employees have been infected with this disease so far. The rate of sickness absence of the personnel is the same as last year,” Yuri Senko said.

He stressed that customs service personnel handle the situation responsibly, using personal protective equipment and following the recommendations of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.

BelTA reported earlier that Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko heard out a report from Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yuri Senko on 2 April. They discussed the work of Belarus' customs bodies with the focus on the economic aspect. Aleksandr Lukashenko also wondered about the state of the customs service personnel. He asked whether any customs officials had been infected with the coronavirus. “Because you get in touch with foreigners after all, who sometimes bring various viruses to us,” he explained.
