Nigerian firefighters start training in Belarusian Emergencies Ministry university

MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) - Representatives from Nigeria have started training in the International Rescue Training Center (IRT Center) of the Civil Protection University of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry in Borisov District, BelTA learned from the official representative of the university Andrei Sadovsky.

Over the course of one week 12 specialists of the the Federal Fire Service of Nigeria will improve their skills in conducting rescue operations on high-rise buildings: safety when working at height, algorithms for the use of climbing equipment and gear during rescue operations. The students from Nigeria will study the rules of ascent and descent from the upper floors of buildings with the help of a rescue rope, learn how to organize and conduct the evacuation of victims.

A tactical training area of the international rescuers training center will be used for practical classes. It is a unique outdoor facility that allows modeling the entire range of natural and man-caused emergencies. The classes will last till 15 October.

Specialists from Nigeria have been training in the Civil Protection University of the Belarusian Emergencies Ministry since 2012. A total of 88 specialists have taken courses in the International Rescue Training Center.
