PETRIKOV DISTRICT, 24 May (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko emphasized the need to develop wooden house building during his visit to the wood processing facility Lyaskovichi in Petrikov District on 24 May, BelTA has learned.
Head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate Yuri Nazarov suggested more active use of laminated veneer lumber in house building. They can be used as slabs instead of products made of reinforced concrete and metal.
The production of LVL beams requires the use of special equipment. It will also be necessary to make changes to building regulations. The current legislation does not specify the use of this material.
“I am ready to make a decision. Make suggestions. I just do not want to hear phrases like “Let's wait for something”. We need to buy necessary equipment as fast as possible. We will be able to do something ourselves. The first line should be installed before the new year,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko. “If you are sure that this is a good choice for housing construction and other things, then make proposals. I will support them. We must do it. This is our material.”

As Yuri Nazarov told the media, the implementation of these technologies is one of the prospects in woodworking. “Sawn timber is already a known thing. A board is a semi-finished product. We will start making houses out of board for our tourist infrastructure. This is very important. The president instructed to make tourism a national brand,” said Yuri Nazarov. “We reported to the president on the construction of a new farm. We use wooden structures. We use traditional ones - glued laminated timber. Today there are other options, as well. Laminated veneer lumber is lighter and has greater load-bearing capacity.”
According to him, laminated veneer lumber can be used in the construction of a wide variety of objects.
“The president has instructed to work on it and report to him by the end of the year. I think we will solve this issue. We would like to use this raw material to make products that will be in demand. There is no such product in Belarus. This is a prospect for the national woodworking industry,” the head of the Belarus President Property Management Directorate said.
