MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – At present the education system has to create a new type of man. The opinion was voiced by Alexei Kharlanov, Rector of the International Banking Institute, Doctor of Economics, Candidate of Science (Engineering), at the roundtable session hosted by BelTA's press center on 11 April to discuss new opportunities in distance education.
The education system has to create a knowledgeable person instead of a consumer economy person. It is necessary to create world elite, including business elite, who can clearly formulate the tasks relevant for the survival of the mankind, social responsibility of people before nature and future generations. Material values, financial flows are not a priority but the survival of the Earth, mankind's evolution in every person and the creation of a new-type person are a priority, remarked Alexei Kharlanov.
According to the Rector of the International Banking Institute, globalization is based on the economy of knowledge accumulated in the post-industrial world and on the advancement of information technologies. “Taking this into account, within the framework of the Bologna process borders between national education systems are dismantled while education opportunities are increased,” said the Rector. “As far as business education is concerned, if wise approaches are used, then spiritual values are combined with real needs and requirements of the economy. Unfortunately, we have lost very valuable traditions of the Soviet education system. It has resulted in fragmentary knowledge in an entire generation of students”.
