MINSK, 1 September (BelTA) – The failure of neighboring countries to fulfill agreements concerning the passage of trucks to their territory is the main reason behind frequent long truck queues in front of Belarusian border checkpoints, representatives of the State Border Committee of Belarus told BelTA.
According to the source, trucks left Belarus for Ukraine and Latvia without delays in the last 24 hours. The relevant agreements with these countries were fulfilled in full. The situation with the fulfillment of agreements by authorities in Poland and Lithuania is different.
These agreements specify how many trucks a border checkpoint is supposed to let through over a certain period of time. The ratio of the number of trucks, which actually went across the border, to the number of trucks, which were supposed to cross the border, was lowest in the Lithuanian border checkpoint Medininkai – 35.6%. The percentage was highest in the Lithuanian border checkpoint Salcininkai (the Benyakoni checkpoint on the Belarusian side) – 97.6% of the number of trucks the sides have agreed on.
