MINSK, 25 February, (BelTA) - The National Festival of Architecture will be held in Belarus this autumn, Oleg Bykovsky, Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Architects, said at the BelTA press center.
This year the Belarusian Union of Architects turns 90 years. The festival will be held in September-October. "It will be filled with events, competitions and creativity, it will engage both young generation and professional architects. I invite everyone to join. I hope that the wide coverage of our festival will raise the status of both architecture and urban planning," Oleg Bykovsky shared his plans.
He emphasized the significance of the profession of an architect for the society. "The basis for community development is urban planning, and housing policy is part of it. This policy is shaped by the state. And the tool for its implementation is construction. We must be very careful about what and where we build. The state policy is about issuing permits, making decisions on the construction of major facilities," said the chairman of the union.
The Belarusian Union of Architects, supported by the Architecture and Construction Ministry, the Education Ministry, the Culture Ministry, the Minsk City Executive Committee, and the International Association of Unions of Architects (IAUA), has been holding the National Festival of Architecture since 1999. It takes place every two years. In 2023 the theme of the festival was "Architecture and urban planning - the basis of community development". The festival is held to familiarize Belarusians and foreign guests with the works of Belarusian architects, to choose the best works and reward the best teams of authors.
As reported, in 2025, the Belarusian Union of Architects plans to expand the program of the National Festival of Architecture. The festival will include events timed to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory. There will be individual thematic exhibitions, architectural projects, as well as other artistic creativity projects, competitions on aesthetic improvement of the living environment. Significant attention is expected to be given to collaborative work with students of higher and specialized architectural schools.
Additionally, in 2025, the Belarusian Union of Architects and the organizing committee of the competition agreed to cooperate within the framework of the “Leaders in Construction” project. This involves expert support and the organization of joint industry events. More information about the competition can be found on the website stroykonkurs.by.
