MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) – President of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Anatoly Zagorodny was awarded the Silver Medal badge of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for his services to science. The award was presented to the scientist by Ambassador of Belarus to Ukraine Igor Sokol, BelTA learned from the Belarusian diplomatic mission.
Anatoly Zagorodny was awarded by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus for important research outcomes in theoretical physics, as well as for many years of successful work to boost scientific and technical potential of Ukraine, and for his personal contribution to the expansion of international scientific cooperation.
During the talks after the ceremony, Igor Sokol and Anatoly Zagorodny discussed the state and prospects of cooperation between research institutions of Belarus and Ukraine.
The Ukrainian scientist handed over a letter of thanks to Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Vladimir Gusakov, as well as a memorable portrait of Borys Paton, long-term president of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, founder and president of the International Association of Academies of Sciences, who passed away last year.
