MPs urged to focus on strengthening technological sovereignty of Belarus-Russia Union State

MINSK, 17 June (BelTA) – Parliamentarians need to make a priority of ensuring technological sovereignty of the Belarus-Russia Union State, First Deputy Chairman of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly, Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Igor Sergeyenko said as he addressed the 66th session of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

“It is important to build a foundation for new joint programs and activities. Particular emphasis should be placed on the things that ensure the technological sovereignty of the Union State, high labor productivity and safe digital development,” noted Igor Sergeyenko. “Therefore, I propose to make the most of the Parliamentary Assembly platforms (meetings of commissions, parliamentary hearings, seminars) in order to draft and implement respective proposals."

Igor Sergeyenko suggested making plans for a distant future. “Such plans are envisaged by the Union State strategy for the scientific and technological development for the period until 2035 that was approved by the Supreme State Council. At the same time, we should not forget about humanitarian matters, first of all, youth affairs, promotion of morality, spirituality, traditional values, civil self-awareness and patriotism. In a nutshell, we need to work seriously on the things that form the unshakable basis for the unity of the peoples of Belarus and Russia,” he added.

The meeting of the 66th session of the Union State Parliamentary Assembly is taking place in Minsk on 17 June.
