MPs ratify Belarus-Saudi Arabia agreement on air services

MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) – The bill to ratify the Air Services Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was passed at a sitting of the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation on 14 May, BelTA learned.

The draft law was submitted to the House of Representatives by the Council of Ministers on 10 April. It is designed to express the consent of the Republic of Belarus to be bound by the Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Belarus and the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on Air Service, signed in Kuala Lumpur on 22 October 2024.

The agreement defines the conditions of flight operations on the routes specified in the annex to the agreement, passenger embarkation and disembarkation, acceptance and unloading of baggage, cargo and mail in the course of international passenger, cargo and mail transportation.

The document also regulates the procedure for issuing operating permits, exemption from customs duties, taxes and other charges, organization of representative offices on the territory of the contracting states. 

The ratification of the agreement will facilitate the establishment of regular international air traffic between the Republic of Belarus and Saudi Arabia, ensure the safety of aircraft operation, and develop mutually beneficial cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in trade, economic, social and educational sectors.
