
MINSK, 14 May (BelTA) - The bill to ratify the Treaty on Extradition between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan was ratified at a sitting of the second session of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation, BelTA learned.
The bill was submitted to the House of Representatives by the Council of Ministers on 11 April 2025. It provides for the ratification of the Treaty on Extradition between the Republic of Belarus and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, signed in Islamabad on 26 November 2024.
The treaty was drawn up in order to develop the legal basis for bilateral cooperation between Belarus and Pakistan and to ensure effective cooperation between the states in preventing and combating crime, developing relations in the field of extradition of persons who are wanted for criminal prosecution or enforcement of a court sentence in the territory of the requesting party for an extraditable offense and who are in the territory of the requested party.
In accordance with Article 7 of the treaty, the bodies entrusted with its implementation are: the Office of the Prosecutor General in Belarus; and the Ministry of Interior in Pakistan.
