MOSCOW, 23 May (BelTA) - A meeting of the Commission on Culture, Science and Education of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia was held in Omsk, Russia, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly.
The MPs considered preparations for the government discussion of the development of the common cultural, scientific and educational space of the Union State. The decision to hold the discussion was made at the 65th session of the Parliamentary Assembly. "Taking into account the theme of the 2024 Forum of Regions dedicated to science and innovation, the members of the Commission on Culture, Science and Education of the Parliamentary Assembly proposed to discuss this topic in stages: the development of the scientific and educational space of the Union State at the 66th session of the Parliamentary Assembly and cultural matters at the 67th session," the press service said.
The MPs also considered new projects and activities of the Union State. "The MPs lauded the new projects of the Union State. Among them are the projects to create the sculpture ‘Monument to the Victorious Warrior’ for the historical and cultural memorial complex "Northern Face of the Kursk Bulge", to publish a textbook on the history of the Union State, to set up an information center for excursion services at the Trostenets Memorial Complex. The MPs proposed the developers of other projects and events in culture, science and education to finish preparing the necessary documentation as soon as possible and submit them to the appropriate ministries of Belarus and Russia and draw up budget requests for 2025," the press service noted.
"Members of the commission discussed the preparations for the 33rd International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk. The MPs recommended that the Belarusian Culture Ministry and the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation pay special attention to the spiritual and moral component of its events when preparing the festival," the press service added.
The event was attended by Chairman of the Commission Nikolai Burlyaev, members of the Commission Olga Germanova, Natalia Kosikhina, Mikhail Mironchik, Governor of Omsk Oblast Vitaly Khotsenko, Chairman of the Legislative Assembly of Omsk Oblast Alexander Artemov ad also representatives of the Standing Committee of the Union State, the Education Ministry of Belarus, the Ministry of Education of Russia, the Ministries of Culture of Belarus and the Russian Federation, and the Government of Omsk Oblast of Russia.
