MP: Integration programs will enhance Union State sovereignty internationally

MINSK, 5 November (BelTA) – The integration programs will strengthen the sovereignty of the Union State in the international arena, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Economic Policy of the House of Representatives of Belarus Leonid Brich told BelTA commenting on the outcomes of the Supreme State Council of the Belarus-Russia Union State that took place on 4 November.

“Yesterday, the Supreme State Council of the Union State passed 28 integration programs on which politicians had been working for about three years. Belarus and Russia reached cooperation agreements in trade, economy, defense and migration, as well as in some other areas of joint work. As the chairman of the Standing Commission on Economic Policy, I was very pleased to see a consensus in the promotion of a common economic space, which will allow our countries to create equal conditions for doing business. This pertains to the adoption of uniform rules for the supply of products to the Union State market. One cannot do without developing general principles of taxation and bringing into line customs regulations. I believe this will give an impetus to trade, which will benefit the two countries amidst the pandemic and the sanctions of the West,” Leonid Brich said.

The parliamentarian expressed hope that the Union State integration programs will herald the transition from discussions to implementation of international treaties, which will strengthen the sovereignty of the Union State in the international arena.
