MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – The new Education Code will be a framework document reflecting a new reality, Chairman of the Standing Commission on Education, Culture and Science of the House of Representatives Igor Marzalyuk told reporters prior to the meeting of the Council of the House of Representatives on 31 March, BelTA has learned.
“The code formalizes the changes in the education system, including in higher learning, and spells out the thesis on compulsory secondary education. It reflects important changes prompted by people, including educators. The document enhances the role of a pedagogical council in decision-making at the level of an educational institution. This is a very important point,” he said.
The document specifies and clarifies the concepts of a kindergarten, school, university. “Now no one, no impostors or public associations will be able to call themselves a school, institute, university, academy,” Igor Marzalyuk emphasized.
On 31 March, the meeting chaired by Speaker of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko discussed the legislative agenda of the fifth session of the House of Representatives, the preparation of the bills for consideration, the parliamentary hearings on Territorial Integrity and National Unity of Belarus. Historical and Legal Aspects of Reunification of the Western Belarusian Lands within the BSSR, the participation of the MPs in the nationwide campaign Forest Week, and other issues.
