GOMEL, 19 October (BelTA) – Belarus is a country of opportunities where everyone can fulfill their dreams, Zhanna Chernyavskaya, Chairperson of the Standing Commission on Environment and Environmental Management of the House of Representatives, said at the concert “Time has chosen us” as part of the Marathon of Unity national campaign in Gomel, BelTA has learned.
Zhanna Chernyavskaya noted that she was born and spent most of her life in Khoiniki District, and now she represents her native district at the House of Representatives. When she was a kid, the Chernobyl accident happened that affected every Belarusian.
“Gomel Oblast, like my home district, took the brunt of the accident. It was scary, confusing, but we pulled it off and began to build a sovereign and independent country. Our president put a lot of effort into mitigating the aftermath of the disaster and reclaiming these lands. We have succeeded in many ways. And we keep moving forward,” she said.
Zhanna Chernyavskaya emphasized that now Belarus is developing nano- and biotechnologies, digital solutions. “Space is ours too,” she emphasized, drawing applause from the audience.
“I can say that Belarus is a country of opportunities. In fact, each person can realize their dreams here, they just need to put their heart and mind to it. Love and work will help make our dreams come true. Of course, we are all very different. Each of us has our own views, our own background, our own joys and sorrows, our own victories and achievements. But we are united by one goal - we all want to live a peaceful and happy life. We have something to be proud of, something to preserve and something to fight for,” she noted.
