MINSK, 22 June (BelTA) – A mobilization exercise involving military registration and enlistment offices is in progress in Gomel Oblast from 22 June through 1 July, the Belarusian Defense Ministry told BelTA.
It is an annual exercise. Last year's took place in Mogilev Oblast. The purpose of such exercises is to check the readiness of the military registration and enlistment offices to perform their functions.
As part of the exercise reservists will be recalled to active duty and will go through a number of drills. In the course of the exercise the military enlistment offices will practice notifying persons subject to military service they have been recalled to active duty and transporting the conscripts to locations from where they are supposed to travel to army units. Once the relevant teams are formed up, the conscripts will be able to go back to their homes. By accomplishing that, the military enlistment offices will check how they can notify the reservists. Rendezvous venues will be established for the sake of notifying the persons subject to military service and gathering them. Units of the Special Operations Command of the Armed Forces of Belarus will take part in the exercise for the sake of creating a realistic situation.
Unlike mobilization exercises held in other parts of Belarus this one will not require sending the mobilized personnel to army units. Instead the conscripts will participate in the mobilization exercise as part of the military registration and enlistment offices.
