Mobile app to highlight Jewish legacy in Belarus

MINSK, 24 January (BelTA) – Belarus will launch a new mobile app to preserve the memory of the Jewish legacy, Yulia Mikolutskaya, the director of the Museum of Jewish History and Culture in Belarus, said at a press conference on 24 January, BelTA has learned.

“This app is called the Guardian of the Legacy. We started developing it last October and are planning to release it in March. The app will contain the information about the war sites, the Holocaust memorials, Jewish historical and cultural legacy and the famous Jews who were born or worked in Belarus,” said Yulia Mikolutskaya.

The app will be available in Russian and English on iOS, Android and web platforms. “We are also planning to translate the app into Hebrew. At the moment the app features more than 120 objects located on the territory of Belarus. The database will be constantly updated,” noted the director of the museum.

Yulia Mikolutskaya says that the app will spark the interest of historians, tour guides and visitors to Belarus. “It is important to those who come here to remember their family members and honor their memory. This app will let them know where this or that object is located and how to reach it,” she added.
