
GRODNO, 11 March (BelTA) - Traditional ritual clothes, paintings, objects and photos telling about national traditions from the Museum of History and Culture of the Jews of Belarus, of the Mir Castle Museum and other collections will be on display at the exhibition titled as Wings of Eternity in Mir Castle, BelTA learned from the cultural institution.
The Wings of Eternity exhibition put together by the Museum of History and Culture of the Jews of Belarus at the Union of Belarusian Jewish Public Associations and Communities will open on 14 March.
“This unique exhibition reveals the entire cycle of Jewish life from birth to death through the tallit (prayer shawl) as an element of traditional ritual clothing. Every exhibit tells the life story of its owner: a tallit accompanies a Jewish man in the most important moments of his life,” the museum said.
The exhibition will present tallits from the Museum of History and Culture of the Jews of Belarus, the Mir Castle Museum, the Jewish Cultural Society Emuna, the Chabad Synagogue and private collections. The exhibition will also feature the paintings by the famous Belarusian artist Yuri Krupenkov that reproduce the atmosphere of the old towns that were home to people of different ethnicities and confessions and that had a unique flavor.
The exhibition will also feature items and photographs that provide information about the Jewish community in Belarus, national traditions and customs. The Wings of Eternity exhibition in Mir Castle will be running until 11 April.
