When compiling the data, Numbeo took into account a number of indicators, including the cost of food, housing rent, purchasing power of the population. Numbeo uses New York City as a benchmark to compare the cost of living across 404 cities worldwide.
The Numbeo Cost of Living Index ranks cities from most expensive to least expensive. Minsk goes 367th on the list of 404 cities. This position indicates a low level of daily expenses compared to most of the world’s megacities. The cost of living index in the Belarusian capital, according to Numbeo, equals 26.4.
Zurich, Geneva, Basel, Lausanne, Lugano, and Bern all have a higher cost of living than New York City which goes 7th.The cost of living index in Zurich topped the list with 112.5. The top ten also included Reykjavik (96.2), Honolulu (94.4) and San Francisco (90.7). The index wraps up with three Indian cities: Lucknow (17.9), Indore (17.7) and Coimbatore (17.1).
