MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) - Minsk Mayor Vladimir Kukharev met with Honorary Consul of Belarus in Eskisehir and Chairman of the Justice and Development Party of Eskisehir Province Gürhan Albayrak on 18 February, BelTA has learned.
The parties discussed the prospects of cooperation in economy, education, culture and sport. "Belarus and Türkiye enjoy long-standing and warm relations in various sectors. Every year we find new avenues for joint activities. We cooperate in many areas. Nowadays we understand that we should further gain momentum. There are still many economic sectors where we can work together and create conditions for cooperation and business: in manufacturing and light industry, trade,” Vladimir Kukharev stated. “We have wide experience in equipping our metro with facilities that contribute to the safety of our citizens. We see potential for deeper cooperation in education, healthcare, and culture. We hope that momentum in our cooperation will remain in place in the future."
In turn, Gürhan Albayrak expressed gratitude for the hospitality and emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation. "We first came to Belarus in 2019, and since then our interaction has continued to develop. One of the purposes of our visit is to study the work of Minsk Metro. We congratulate you on the opening of three new stations. At the meeting with the Turkish ambassador in Minsk, we also discussed the prospects of cooperation in agriculture and education and agreed that we need to speed up the implementation of joint initiatives," he said.
According to Gürhan Albayrak, manufacturers from Eskisehir and neighboring cities are interested in visiting Minsk. In turn, Vladimir Kukharev said that the Minsk City Executive Committee is ready to arrange business meetings and tours to enterprises for representatives of Turkish business. He also invited the delegation from Eskisehir to attend the upcoming economic forum in September.
The parties also focused on cultural and sports cooperation. The Turkish side offered to hold an exhibition football game in Minsk with the participation of a team from Eskisehir. The parties also touched upon the possibility of organizing Days of Culture of Eskisehir in Minsk.
