Minsk launches postage stamp to mark Belarus’ EAEU chairmanship

MINSK, 15 May (BelTA) - The new stamp testifies to the attention paid in Belarus to the Eurasian integration,  Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Karanik told journalists at a ceremony to dedicate the postal project "Chairmanship of the Republic of Belarus in the Eurasian Economic Union in 2025" in Minsk on 15 May, BelTA learned.

"This is another clear signal of importance of Eurasian integration for Belarus. Our country suggests various initiatives: removing barriers, improving logistics, ensuring equal access to the public procurement system, promoting the unimpeded movement of goods and services. In other words, there are many issues that require additional work. But the most important thing is that they are supported by our EAEU colleagues.  In some areas, the initiatives are, to put it bluntly, revolutionary. They are designed to promote the integration of our countries, provide an opportunity for common responses to global challenges and contribute to further accelerated development of the states that are members of the EAEU," Vladimir Karanik believes.

The new stamp is the sixth such project dedicated to the Eurasian Economic Union. "A postage stamp is not a big thing, but it is a work of art. I am sure that even after many years it will serve as a reminder of Belarus' participation in the Eurasian integration. The year of Belarus’ chairmanship also coincided with the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, and this also clearly demonstrates that together our people prevailed in that terrible war, rebuilt the country and brought it back to life from the ruins. Together we will continue to respond more effectively to the global challenges of our modern world. The EAEU member countries are different but, I am confident, we will be able to complement each other, ensure the effective development not only of our economies, but also promote interpersonal communication, communication between the youth. It is very important that our young generation is taking an increasingly active part in the events held under the auspices of the EAEU, in cultural and sports projects. This is a guarantee that they will continue their effective cooperation in the field of economy and business," the deputy prime minister emphasized.
Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko noted that the economic ministry initiated the idea to hold a competition to design a postage stamp. "It was interesting to see how deeply our youth are engaged in the processes of the Eurasian Economic Union, especially during this important period of Belarus’ chairmanship," she said.

"Thank you to everyone who contributed to the creation of a truly unique, beautiful, and meaningful stamp for all EAEU member states. I hope each country sees itself represented in it. Its colors reflect a vibrant perception of the union. The architectural elements emphasize Belarus’ leadership in 2025. I believe this emblem will be well received and widely used during all EAEU events this year," Alesya Abramenko stated.

The EAEU comprises over 180 million people who are potential consumers of Belarusian goods. "It is particularly important for us as Belarus has a fairly open economy. In 2024, Belarus’ economic growth exceeded 4%, surpassing global averages. Over the past 10 years, mutual trade between EAEU member states has doubled. A customs union and unified regulations have been established, improving the quality of goods thanks to a common technical regulation system," the deputy minister explained.

Among Belarus' major initiatives during its chairmanship in the union, Alesya Abramenko highlighted the creation of a unified system of import substitution and guarantees for investor rights. "A completely new development, unified standards for tourism services, has recently been approved," she added.

The postage stamp features an emblem designed by Marina Krezo, a leading designer at the publishing center Marka of the Belpochta postal service.
