Minsk hosts ministerial consultations on arms control, disarmament, non-proliferation

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) – Representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs of the Commonwealth of Independent States met in the CIS headquarters in Minsk for consultations on arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation, the Department for Cooperation in Political, Humanitarian, and Social Spheres of the CIS Executive Committee told BelTA.

Representatives of Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan as well as personnel of the CIS Executive Committee took part in the consultations. Representatives of Azerbaijan were present in the observer capacity.

The meeting took place in a constructive and interested atmosphere. A substantial exchange of opinions about a broad range of matters concerning arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation took place. The consultations allowed sketching out ways for further advancement of cooperation between the CIS member states in the field of arms control, disarmament, and non-proliferation.
