Minsk deputy mayor: Government seeks constructive dialogue with young people

MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – The authorities are trying to build a dialogue with young people, because a meaningful conversation is a better way to resolve urgent issues than a dispute, Minsk Deputy Mayor Artem Tsuran told reporters at an open dialogue attended by delegates of the Belarusian People's Congress representing Minsk on 3 February, BelTA has learned.

“The authorities are fully aware of the problems that are of concern for young people. We have always been interested in the opinion of the younger generation and tried to address their issues. However, in the run-up to the congress, I would like not only to hear proposals on how to solve young people's problems, but also to know how they see the country's future. After all, young people are able to suggest some out-of-the-box solutions. There is an ancient saying that the truth is born in a dispute, but I believe that a constructive dialogue is a better instrument to resolve pressing issues, so the authorities are interested in communicating with young people,” Artem Tsuran said.

Taking part in the open dialogue were delegates representing the Minsk City Committee of the BRSM Youth Union. They discussed ways to improve the forum, economic and social matters. “The Belarusian People's Congress is a momentous event. Due to this large-scale forum, citizens of the country will be able to engage in a dialogue that will determine the country's development for the coming years. Consolidation of people will allow us to build a better understanding of what needs to be done to help the country to move forward. Now many young people seek to continually develop themselves to reach their full potential, therefore I would like to suggest raising the age of young people so that people who work and do something good for the country will be able to take advantage of government support as long as possible,” Marina Gritseva, Deputy Director for Advertising at the Minskreklama state-run company, said.

Young delegates of the Belarusian People's Congress asked to raise the issues related to the first workplace, wages and working conditions, accommodation, as well as efforts to popularize state symbols. Artem Tsuran responded to all the proposals and promised to take them on board.
