MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) – As the third coronavirus wave in Belarus is gradually abating, hospitals of Minsk are returning to normal operations. For example, Minsk city hospital No.1 is returning to normal operations from 7 June, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Healthcare Ministry.
According to chief physician of the hospital Dmitry Shevtsov, last week, several departments that were temporarily repurposed for COVID-19 patients started becoming empty: some patients were discharged, others were sent to other hospitals or to rehabilitation facilities. Since late April, the hospital had 200 beds for coronavirus patients, including 20 intensive care beds.
In terms of the number of new cases, the third wave was less intensive than the second one in Belarus. However, there were still quite a lot of severe cases, and the intensive care department of the hospital was busy, the Healthcare Ministry noted.
Several hospitals of Minsk admit COVID-19 patients, including hospitals No. 2, 4, 5, 6, and 10 as well as infectious diseases hospitals for adults and children.
