MINSK, 1 March (BelTA) - People feel protected in all the Belarusian cities, Belarusian Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Kubrakov said in an interview to ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“My opinion, as a citizen, father, husband, as a man living in society, is that today people feel protected in all the cities of the country, not only in Minsk. A lot of people turn to us on various issues, even on the matters that are not quite related to the police. We respond to everything pretty fast, because if people turn to us, it means they need us,” said the head of the ministry. He stressed that today the situation in the country is under control, the safety of citizens and protection of public order is ensured in the streets of Belarus.
According to the minister, the tasks facing the internal affairs bodies have been unchanged for many years. It is to ensure the safety of citizens and protection of their property. “The operational situation in the country was changing, there were certain events in August 2020. Then we paid more attention to maintaining public safety and order on the streets, but police officers, despite the heavy load and numerous violations of public order, continued to perform all their tasks properly,” he added.
As for information security, Ivan Kubrakov said that the main department has been set up in Belarus to combat cybercrime. “The department includes officers who have been trained to deal with such crimes. We respond to such crimes quite successfully,” stressed the minister.
