MINSK, 14 September (BelTA) - Belarus and China are determined to deepen cooperation and continue interaction in the defense sector, Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin said in an interview with China Central Television. The Belarusian official is attending the 11th Beijing Xiangshan Forum, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
“We held talks with the minister of defense of the People's Liberation Army of China and outlined prospects for further cooperation. Cooperation in defense, peacekeeping, joint combat training is at a very good level, but we do feel complacent. We discussed a number of activities where we can expand cooperation. We also discussed new areas of cooperation,” Viktor Khrenin said.
The minister also spoke about the situation near the borders of Belarus. “The situation near our southern borders remains tense. Various extremist formations of self-exiled Belarusians are developed on the territory of Ukraine, who openly declare that they are preparing to enter our territory and seize power by force. We are closely monitoring the situation, information about which some sofa experts are trying to distort. We are not threatening anyone, and we are not going to attack anyone. We act only within the borders of our country. This is the most important principle,” Viktor Khrenin said.
