MINSK, 27 September (BelTA) – All severe COVID-19 patients in Belarus are unvaccinated, Healthcare Minister Dmitry Pinevich said as he inspected the red zones of Minsk City Hospital No.6, BelTA informs citing the official Telegram channel of the Healthcare Ministry of Belarus.
“Now we are seeing an increase in COVID-19 cases. While inspecting hospitals, monitoring groups see that the coronavirus infection rate is shifting toward younger ages. And I want to emphasize that all severe COVID-19 patients (patients on ventilators and in need of intensive care) were not vaccinated. We must keep in mind that vaccination is of paramount importance since the delta variant has become the dominant strain causing COVID-19. It does not matter which vaccine you get, it is important to give yourself additional protection against this serious infectious disease,” the minister emphasized.
The healthcare minister met with Deputy Chairman of the Health Committee of the Minsk City Hall Pavel Udot, Chief Physician of Minsk City Hospital No.6 Igor Yurkevich, non-staff chief anesthesiologist-intensive care specialist of the Health Committee of the Minsk City Hall Igor Yalonetsky, head of the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Department Dmitry Rykovsky to discuss new proposals regarding the work of intensive care units in the red zones, treatment of severe patients with the delta variant, availability of medicines, oxygen support and other issues.
