MOGILEV, 4 August (BelTA) – Military personnel from across Belarus are helping local farmers in Mstislavl District with harvest operations, BelTA learned from Captain Leonid Shchigelsky, deputy commander of the combined unit.
A 20-person military detachment is currently deployed across three agricultural enterprises in Mstislavl District: Vikhra, Sozh-Agro and Mazolovskoye. All personnel completed necessary briefings and field training prior to deployment. Support systems have been deployed too. These include a dedicated medical support with an ambulance unit and a mobile repair workshop for equipment maintenance.

"As in previous years, a combined platoon was formed at the 8th Radiological, Chemical, and Biological Defense Brigade based in Starye Dorogi. In late July, the servicemen were deployed to help farmers with harvesting operations," Captain Leonid Shchigelsky noted. "It is the second time I have participated in harvest operations.”
The deputy commander emphasized that military personnel never stand aside from important national efforts. 'The country’s president has set clear objectives: the harvest must be completed on time without losses. This is our nation's breadbasket. Farms need manpower, which is why they applied to the Defense Ministry for help,” he stated. 'The military will always lend a shoulder when needed.”

Senior driver Maksim Radionik from the Motor Transport Company of the Logistical Support Battalion (Military Unit 33933) said: “We approach a harvester, load the harvest, then move to the next one," he explained. "Harvest operations are underway nationwide. If everyone does their work honestly and diligently, our tables will never lack bread, milk, or meat.”

The combined unit will continue working through August, with possible extension if required.

All agricultural enterprises in the district have now joined the harvest campaign. Approximately 30,000 hectares of crops need to be removed.
