Mikhail Yelsky International String Bow Instruments Contest opens in Minsk


MINSK, 11 November (BelTA) – Mikhail Yelsky International Contest of String Bow Instruments Performers kicked off in Minsk on9 November, BelTA has learnt from the Belarusian State Philharmonic Society.

Partaking in the contest are 89 musicians from 12 countries. 26 participants represent Belarus.

The musicians are competing in four nominations: Violin, Viola, Cello, and Double-bass. The competition features three rounds: in the first two the contestants are accompanied by the piano, and in the final round – by the symphony orchestra.

The performances are judged by the international jury of recognized musicians. Mikhail Gantvarg, Rector of the Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, People's Artist of Russia, Professor, is heading the jury in the Violin nomination. The jury in the Viola, Cello, and Double-bass nominations is headed by Vladimir Rylatko, Honored Art Worker of the Republic of Belarus, Associate Professor of the Department of String Bow Instruments at the Belarusian State Academy of Music.
