MINSK, 23 November (BelTA) – The refugees have not applied for asylum in Belarus, Aleksei Begun, Head of the Citizenship and Migration Department of the Belarusian Ministry of Internal Affairs, told reporters, BelTA has learned.
“The persons who are currently staying at the Belarus-Poland border have not applied to respective authorities of Belarus for refugee status or complementary protection,” Aleksei Begun said.
According to him, the refugees at the Belarus-Poland border “insist that they want to leave for the countries of the European Union”. “Therefore, they still reject all proposals to return to their homeland,” he said.
