MINSK, 8 December (BelTA) - Belarus and Russia have developed a unified defense policy, and the West should take it into account, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Dmitry Mezentsev said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, BelTA has learned.
“External circumstances require the adoption of the decisions, which were signed by the heads of state. This is an agreement on security guarantees in the Union State. The Union State Security Concept is a new document reflecting the realities of the situation on the European continent. Thus, a set of documents has already been signed, which essentially ensure the formation of a unified defense policy of the Union State,” Dmitry Mezentsev said.
In his words, the deployment of tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus and the positive response of Russian President Vladimir Putin on the deployment of the Oreshnik missile systems in Belarus in the second half of next year are part of this work. “A single Russian-Belarusian group force has been formed and is operating, including with the support of the Union State budget and programs of the Union State. There is a constant exchange of data from defense agencies and special services - data on how threats are formed, how the military and political situation on the continent and in the world as a whole is changing. This huge complex and accumulated resource of interaction is a factor that the collective West is obliged to take into account. I think that the events of the last few days will be taken into account in the West and across the ocean,” the state secretary of the Union State said.
