Mezentsev: The Belarus-Russia Union State budget for 2024 was executed by 99.7%

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) - The budget of the Union State of Belarus and Russia for 2024 was executed by 99.7%. This was achieved due to concerted efforts in microelectronics, automotive engineering, electronics, materials science, i.e. the programs related to defense and security of the Union State, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Dmitry Mezentsev told journalists before a meeting at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, BelTA has learned.

The meeting aims to take stock of the implementation of programs and measures and the execution of the Union State budget in 2024. It will also discuss 18 programs and seven measures of the Union State, most of which are related to defense, security, law enforcement, defense and military cooperation, social policy and economy.
“Annually we take stock of the implementation of the Union State programs and projects funded from the Union State budget. Currently, there are eight programs and two projects of the Union State in operation. It is very important to note that the ministries and agencies of Belarus and Russia act as partners in these programs and projects. They did a great job last year,” the state secretary emphasized.

It was also noted that the State Control Committee, the Accounts Chamber, and the Ministry of Finance receive information on the budget of the Belarus-Russia Union State.

“We have submitted proposals to Mikhail Mishustin, Chairman of the Council of Ministers, on promising areas of work for the next three-five years. These proposals have been agreed by the members of Union State’s Council of Ministers and Belarusian Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko. This does not mean that all proposals will be approved,” Dmitry Mezentsev added. “The Academy of Sciences of the two countries and the Kurchatov Institute National Research Center will provide their expert assessment of the proposals after passing through the preparation and assessment at the government level of the Union State. After approval, these proposals may become new projects and programs on our common integration agenda.”
