MINSK, 25 February (BelTA) - Each region of Belarus has its own spiritual centers of Orthodoxy, Metropolitan of Minsk and Zaslavl Veniamin, Patriarchal Exarch of All Belarus, told the media, BelTA learned.
“We have spiritual centers in every region and they serve as a place of attraction. For example, Gomel Oblast is an ancient land where Turov Eparchy was founded 1020 years ago. It was the second eparchy after the Polotsk one. This is also St. John’s Monastery in Korma, which is the center of attraction. Pilgrims from Ukraine, Russia, and Belarus used to flock there. The local church could not even accommodate all of them,” Metropolitan Veniamin gave an example.
In Vitebsk Oblast and Grodno Oblast such spiritual centers include the Savior-St Euphrosyne Stavropegic Convent in Polotsk and the Holy Dormition Stavropegic Monastery in Zhirovichi.
