Markov: Spartakiade in Staiki draws a record high number of participants

MINSK DISTRICT, 27 July (BelTA) - The national spartakiade Zdorovie [Health] among media outlets in the Staiki center has brought together a record high number of participants, Belarusian Information Minister Marat Markov said during a ceremony to open the sports festival, BelTA has learned. 

“The festival has drawn more than 500 people. I think this is a record high,” he said. “I would especially like to thank our press secretaries for 'daring' to compete with people they cooperate with in daily life. Let's see how you fare. On our part we will try to put up decent competition.” 

The information minister also thanked those media employees who came to the festival together with their families. “There is no better way to build relationships, socialize, have a good time than spending two days at such a wonderful facility as the national Olympic training center Staiki, in such a wonderful weather,” he said. 
It was raining in the morning and we had some concerns, but thankfully the weather cleared up, the minister said. He wished all the participants good luck in the competition.

The traditional national spartakiade among media outlet is running in Staiki. The event will last for two days and has brought together 20 teams, including a BelTA team.
The teams will compete in volleyball, mini-football, table tennis, running events, kettlebell lifting, tug of war, darts, air rifle shooting.
The spartakiade is held among the organizations affiliated with the Information Ministry, print and electronic media. The awards and closing ceremonies will be held on 28 July.
