MOGILEV, 23 November (BelTA) - Mogilev is the backbone of the economy across many commodity items, Head of the Belarus Presidential Administration Dmitry Krutoi said as he addressed the concert "Time chose us" in Mogilev as part of the national social and cultural campaign Marathon of Unity on 23 November, BelTA has learned.
Dmitry Krutoi welcomed the audience and stressed a special responsibility for the organizers of the Marathon of Unity because Aleksandr Lukashenko hails from Mogilev Oblast and shares a deep connection with the region.
The head of the Presidential Administration recalled that Mogilev is an integral part of the biography of the head of state, starting from his childhood, study and work. "All the main milestones of the presidential career are in one way or another connected with the region. Mogilev residents have never let our leader down, and I am sure that he will never let you down," Dmitry Krutoi said.
He also noted important changes in the development of the city and the region, emphasizing the significant progress in the economy, social sector and infrastructure in recent years. In this context, Dmitry Krutoi stressed that the improvements are objectively recognized by both residents and visitors to Mogilev.
He paid special attention to the historical facts. "In 1939, Mogilev was literally one step away from obtaining the official status of the capital of Belarus," Dmitry Krutoi recalled, adding that, although this did not happen, the city retained an important historical heritage.

"Genuine national unity is the basis for implementing all our ambitious plans and programs, and also for responding to the challenges that our country faces today," he said.
