MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) - The exhibition project called The Century of Belarusian Cinema will be on display in Grodno as the city hosts the social and cultural campaign Marathon of Unity on 17-18 January, Veronika Sebrukovich, head of the Museum of the History of Belarusian Cinema, a branch of the National Historical Museum of Belarus, told BelTA.

“Last year, 2024, marked the centenary of Belarusian cinema. A lot has been achieved over this time. Many films have become famous not only in Belarus but all over the world. Films that have entered a golden pool of the Belarusian cinematography,” Veronika Sebrukovich said.

The exhibition dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Belarusian cinema explores the national cinematography, its historical millstones and the processes and dynamics of the national cinematography at the present stage.
The exhibition will feature the unique items from the holdings of the National History Museum, documents from the National Archives of Belarus, posters, props from film shootings, costumes, scripts - the things that made the Belarusian cinema famous all over the world.

According to Veronika Sebrukovich, all the exhibits are related to the most popular Belarusian movies, for example, universally loved children's film Buratino's Adventures, the most famous Soviet comedy White Dews. It is symbolic that this movie was filmed at Belarusfilm and also in the city of Grodno. “Therefore, residents of Grodno will be all the more interested in the exhibits about this movie, costumes and documents related to its shooting,” the head of the museum said.

The movie Red Leaves directed by Vladimir Korsh-Sablin, inspired by the real events, is also widely known to Belarusians. This is a movie about Sergei Pritytski, who is connected with Grodno, and in general with Western Belarus, and the events that took place in the 1930s. The exhibition project will also showcase the exhibits related to such cult movies as Forest True Story, A Girl Seeks Her Father, King Stakh's Wild Hunt.

According to Veronika Sebrukovich, the exhibition project reveals first of all the richness of the Belarusian cinematography. The exhibits about the recent films made by the National Film Studio Belarusfilm narrate the modern development of the Belarusian cinematography.
